Notre Dame is always the beneficiary of some exciting matchups thanks to the independent status of the Irish football program.

One of the benefits of Notre Dame football being independent is the ability to essentially schedule who you want, when you want. It makes for some very intriguing matchups — and some exciting road trips for Irish fans.

One such road trip was recognized earlier this week, when 247 Sports released its list of the 10 games they are most looking forward to in 2020.

Notre Dame’s trip to Green Bay to face the Wisconsin Badgers made the list at No. 10.

That game is a bucket list event for all football fans, and it’s not surprising that it made the list. All I question is its position at No. 10, behind such games as UNC vs. UCF and a number of other matchups that take place every year.

That matchup was not the only Notre Dame game to make the list. Also making 247’s cut was the game against Clemson in Week 10. We’re talking about the program that is currently the gold standard in all of college football, traveling to one of the sport’s true cathedrals to face the program that is arguably the gold standard throughout history.

That is going to be a bucket list game for a lot of people as well, and it’s sure to be one of the hottest tickets in college football during the 2020 season — much like Notre Dame-Georgia was in 2019.

One thing is for certain — Clemson fans travel well and will be looking to paint South Bend orange that weekend. They’ll pay anything to get into the stadium, and it’s going to be tough for the average Notre Dame season ticket hold to pass up the kind of money that some of the Clemson fans are going to be tossing around.

My advice: hold on to your tickets, Irish fans. You can’t put a price on the sort of game day experience you are going to get from both of these contests.
