Notre Dame will play some tough teams in some interesting venues in 2020.

The 2019 campaign just wrapped up, but the 2020 Notre Dame football season will be here before you know it. To kick off the new decade, the Irish will play in five NFL stadiums and one game overseas.

Which of these road games will be the most difficult? Here are the 5 toughest road tests the Irish face in 2020.

5. Pitt

Pat Narduzzi’s team is never an easy out. They nearly took down Notre Dame in 2018, and they caught UCF this past season. The Panthers won eight games — including the Quick Lane Bowl over Eastern Michigan — and return several key playmakers on both sides of the ball.

4. Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons won 8 games in 2019 and went bowling for the fourth straight year. Head coach Dave Clawson has built one of the most underrated programs in the Power 5. The Irish will face them in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers.

3. Navy

There are a couple of positives heading into this game. For one, quarterback Malcom Perry will be gone. Additionally, the Irish will have all Summer to prep for the Navy option attack. Nonetheless, flying across the Atlantic Ocean to face a pesky, stubborn Midshipmen squad is less than ideal.

2. USC

The Trojans are going to be loaded on offense, and they’ll be a tough matchup for the Notre Dame defense. Playing on the West Coast to finish the season when you may not have a completely healthy club is going to be a challenge, rivalry game or not.

1. Wisconsin

Sure, a lot of their major weapons are gone, but the Badger program is very much plug and play. Big offensive lineman and capable running backs who eat up yards and clock are still going to be the norm. Additionally, the Badgers always play stingy defense. And don’t forget, this “neutral site” game is still in Bucky’s back yard.
