Known by many as ‘Tight End U’, who does Notre Dame football have in its current tight end corps in 2020 that fans should keep an eye on?

Throughout the past 10-15 years, Notre Dame has most definitely established itself as one of — if not the premier — tight end destination for high school athletes.

Other than Iowa and maybe Miami, Notre Dame has produced many of the tight ends you see on Sundays in the NFL today. Players such as Tyler Eifert of the Bengals, Kyle Rudolph of the Vikings, Ben Koyack of the Jaguars and more.

A disappointment to many Notre Dame fans, star TE Cole Kmet declared for the NFL Draft a few weeks back, leaving the Irish offense without one of its top targets for next season.

It is tough to blame Kmet, though, as he is likely to be the first player at his position taken in the draft.

Many draft experts have Kmet placed at the end of the first round or the beginning of the second. With Rob Gronkowski out of New England, the Patriots struggled offensively and could definitely be looking to take Kmet at No.23.

Also, Jimmy Graham is getting no younger in Green Bay and you can bet the house that Aaron Rodgers would love a new, young TE to throw the ball to with their pick at No.30.

In a breakout 2019 season, Kmet tallied 43 receptions for 515 yards and 6 TDs. Kmet quickly became a favorite target of QB Ian Book’s once the TE returned from his broken collarbone Week 4 against Georgia.

Kmet will join the players above as yet another Notre Dame TE to play in the NFL and add even more ammunition to the ‘Tight End U’ claim.

However, the big question now facing the Notre Dame offense and specifically the tight end position is, who is next?

Let’s take a look.
