DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA – NOVEMBER 09: George Takacs #85 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish makes a touchdown catch against Dylan Singleton #16 of the Duke Blue Devils during the fourth quarter of their game at Wallace Wade Stadium on November 09, 2019 in Durham, North Carolina. Next, the junior George Takacs.

Always a ‘project’ piece, Takacs hasn’t had the chance to shine just yet at Notre Dame. When he will get the chance to shine is a question that still doesn’t have an answer.

Standing at 6’7 242 lbs, when Takacs sees the field it is primarily in Notre Dame’s ’12’ formation with two TEs. He has been a great blocker, although it would be hard to not be with that size and how quick his feet are.

Takacs did catch his first touchdown pass of his career against Duke in 2019, his second and last catch of the season. He finished the year with two catches for 12 yards and the aforementioned touchdown.

He has plenty of eligibility left in South Bend, so this season and next will be very telling for Takacs, especially with the young TE talent coming in to Notre Dame.

Last but not least, Kevin Bauman.

If it wasn’t for Michael Mayer being in the same recruiting class as Bauman, you can bet all the hype would be around this guy. Ranked as the No.6 TE on 247sports, Bauman is a VERY good TE in his own right, but is not talked about nearly enough.

Out of Red Bank Catholic in Red Bank, New Jersey, Bauman does not nearly have the numbers that Michael Mayer does, but stats can be misleading at times and Bauman’s offense was much more run-heavy. Regardless, in three seasons at Red Bank, Bauman tallied 893 yards and 9 TDs on 47 receptions.

A recent Polynesian Bowl participant along with fellow Notre Dame commits Tosh Baker, Chris Tyree, Michael Carmody, and Aidan Keanaaina.

Bauman had a few catches in the game, but nothing huge.

Next. PFF has 4 Notre Dame players as top draft prospects. dark

While the freshman may not play right away, expect Bauman to see playing time for the Irish in 2021 and definitely in 2022.
