The XFL kicks off this weekend. The Notre Dame football program will be represented by four former players.

Football season is not over yet! The XFL, version 2.0, kicks off this weekend. The rosters of these new teams will be filled with some very familiar faces from recent college and NFL teams. Four Notre Dame football alums will be among them.

Greer Martini will suit up at linebacker for the Dallas Renegades. Martini spent time in the NFL with the Packers and Vikings, and also played for the Salt Lake Stallions in the Alliance of American Football.

Jarron Jones will play offensive tackle for the New York Guardians. Jones has bounced around with several different NFL franchises over the last couple of years, including the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks.

Long snapper Scott Daly will join Jones in New York. He spent time in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and the AAF with the San Antonio Commanders.

Nyles Morgan will play linebacker for the Seattle Dragons. Morgan spent some time with the Chicago Bears after a solid career with the Irish.

Martini’s Dallas Renegades will host the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday. Jones, Daly, and the Guardians will host the Tampa Bay Vipers on the same day, while Nyles Morgan and the Dragons will travel to the Beltway to take on the D.C. Defenders on Saturday.

The XFL will feature some unique rules, including allowing two forward passes per play, as long as both passes are from behind the line of scrimmage. For a complete breakdown of the XFL rules of play, check out the “rules” page on the league’s website, which you can find by clicking here.

With a solid infrastructure in place, the XFL has the best chance of any secondary league in recent memory to survive beyond a couple of seasons. We’ll be rooting for our favorite former Notre Dame football players to crush it!
