Notre Dame football: Breakout candidates-Offense
Braden Lenzy gave Irish fans a glimpse of his capabilities last season – making the most of his limited touches. The name of the game is speed, and that is exactly what Lenzy provides. He is probably the fastest offensive playmaker to make his way to South Bend since Will Fuller, and new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is hoping to utilize his speed much next year.
The only thing stopping Lenzy from breaking out is injury and consistency. Now in year three, the consistency should be there and a bigger and stronger Lenzy should be the best prepared for the wear and tear of a full college football season. While Austin will likely be the every-down workhorse at receiver, Lenzy should be Notre Dame’s big-play guy – with the ability to break a long run at any moment.
