Notre Dame football: Breakout candidates-Offense
In August, it looked like Kyren Williams would be a big-time freshman contributor as he looked very impressive in camp. However, he played the first four games of the season and nothing else – seemingly hitting that freshman wall Coach Kelly talks about frequently. With that said, he wouldn’t be the first guy to go through an adjustment process in year one and be better for it.
Williams should be a valuable weapon as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield, and outside of Armstrong and incoming freshman Chris Tyree, he is really the only one that can provide those capabilities. The staff raved about Williams early on last year, so it should be okay to have lofty expectations in year two.
