Next, and potentially challenging Ademilola for playing time will be the redshirt-freshman Howard Cross III.

Cross redshirted last season, playing in just three games (New Mexico, Bowling Green, Navy). He made an impact in each, registering a tackle against New Mexico and Bowling Green, and made a statement with five tackles against Navy.

Another New Jersey product, Cross was initially recruited as a defensive end but made the move to defensive tackle early on last season. He is a bit short for a defensive tackle, the shortest at the position by over two inches, standing at just 6’1.

The staff does seem to be high on Cross though, and this season should be telling.
