Notre Dame: 5 best athletes named Patrick on St. Patrick’s Day
By Matt Clark
Patrick Boyd Jr. was a wrestler on the University of Notre Dame wrestling team in the late the1980s. The greatest year of his collegiate career came in 1989 when he would finish fifth overall in the United States Nationals in the 142-pound weight class and would be named an All-American.
Keeping with the theme, Patrick Santoro of the University of Pittsburgh would ultimately win the National Championship for the 142-pound weight division that year. However, the fifth-place finish for Boyd Jr. was still a solid performance.
Following his collegiate career, Patrick Boyd Jr. would go on to become the head wrestling coach for his high school alma mater, Mount Pleasant High School in Michigan.
