Notre Dame football: Realistic 2021 dream class – Offense
Cane Berrong – Hart County (Hartwell, Georgia) – Commit
Thomas Fidone – Lewis Central (Council Bluffs, Iowa) – Target
Let me clear the air before readers wonder why Brock Bowers isn’t listed. If Bowers were in this class, he would instantly jump to the #2 spot in my rankings behind Buchner – and you’ll see him in my article tomorrow for defense. Fidone on the other hand, I like his potential significantly more on offense and that looks to be the only side of the ball he is being recruited to play.
Starting with Berrong, he is the first tight end the staff offered. While the staff very much likes Berrong and doesn’t necessarily need a second tight end in the class, if they can land another elite talent at the position, they won’t say no. Insert Fidone. Arguably the top tight end in the 2021 class, Fidone seems to be taking a diligent approach to his recruitment.
Nebraska the favorite due to his childhood fandom and proximity to the school, but programs like Notre Dame, Iowa and Penn State are involved because of their tight end pedigree. While the Irish entered the party a little later, it is safe to say he is strongly considering playing in South Bend. If he does sign with Notre Dame, we are once again looking at the top tight end class in the country.
