Notre Dame football: Realistic 2021 dream class – Offense
Blake Fisher – Avon (Avon, Indiana) – Commit
Nolan Rucci – Warwick (Lititz, Pennsylvania) – Target
Landon Tengwall – Good Counsel (Olney, Maryland) – Target
Rocco Spindler – Clarkston (Clarkston, Michigan) – Target
Much like running back, this is a position group that they can afford to miss out on a few top targets and still end up with what some would call a realistic dream class – and that is already somewhat the case with Wyatt Milum committing to West Virginia a few weeks back. However, Notre Dame has made it pretty clear that a big three of Fisher, Tengwall, and Spindler is something they covet and as of right now that seems like a legitimate possibility.
Fisher, already committed, is as good as a class recruiter you are gonna find and he is a big reason why this four-man class isn’t far-fetched. All of these guys are in the top 60 recruits for 2021 according to the 247sports.com composite rankings, and while Notre Dame consistently lands top OL classes, it is hard to remember one quite like this if it were to happen.
Part of what would make this class a dream is the position flexibility within the four guys. Rucci is a legitimate left tackle prospect and Spindler is a Quenton Nelson-esque mauler at guard. Fisher and Tengwall provide the staff with elite potential at both tackle and guard meaning four out of five spots on the offensive line are solved for the future.
It looks like Clemson, Penn State, and Notre Dame will do battle for Rucci. Tengwall is down to Penn State and Notre Dame, and I think anyone would be surprised if Spindler picked anyone besides Michigan or Notre Dame.
Other players in the running to make this offensive line class very impressive include: Garrett Dellinger, Reuben Fatheree, and Caleb Johnson. If the staff can at least sign 3 from the list above, it would be really difficult to find a reason to hate one of these three sliding in as a replacement.
