Notre Dame football: Realistic dream class-Defense
Justin Walters – Bolingbrook (Bolingbrook, Illinois) – Commit
Devin Kirkwood – Junipero Serra (Gardena, California) – Target
Another tough position to choose from as it certainly feels like the staff has their eggs in many baskets for the second spot behind Walters. I elected to go with Kirkwood because I think he offers the highest upside of the guys on this list, while also giving the staff some corner flexibility. Kirkwood won defensive back MVP at the most recent regional camp he attended as well and hold offers from Michigan, UCLA, and USC – seemingly his top three to go along with Notre Dame.
Notre Dame fans already know about Walters. He is a hard-hitting, disciplined football player and one that would pair nicely with a rangy ball-hawking type like Kirkwood. I also wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of taking Kirkwood and an additional player such as Jaden Slocum or Titus Mokiao-Atimalala (also mentioned as a WR target).
This year the Notre Dame staff showed the willingness to play three safeties at a time, and Kirkwood actually gives me some Kyle Hamilton vibes as both a player and a recruit.
I am all for landing the players the staff feel are the best player regardless of position and figuring out the rest later…to an extent of course.
