Notre Dame football: Realistic dream class-Defense
Ceyair Wright – Loyola (Los Angeles, California) – Target
D.J. Harvey – Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, California) –Target
Dyson McCutcheon – Bishop Amat (La Puente, California) – Target
California is a trend for the defensive side of the ball, and that is always something I can get on board with. This California trio offers the staff the proper flexibility as Wright could conceivably play both outside corner positions and Harvey and McCutcheon would thrive at field or in the slot.
While this might not be the dream class that some Notre Dame fans were hoping for, Ohio State is not exactly playing Notre Dame’s best friend in this recruiting cycle – stealing both Jakailin Johnson and Devonta Smith from the Irish. Losing out to Clemson for Jordan Hancock and Texas for Billy Bowman doesn’t exactly help either.
With that said, these are three terrific prospects and guys the staff has been all over for a long time as well. Wright is a top 100 prospect with offers from all over, and Harvey is a four-star prospect with an impressive offer list as well. McCutcheon is a USC legacy, and while his star ranking isn’t on par with the two guys, I would be surprised if he stays that way. His offer list is definitely suitable for that praise as well.
For Harvey, it is worth noting he was scheduled for two trips to Notre Dame recently – one with his 7v7 team, and another for later this month or April. McCutcheon was also supposed to be on campus this month, while Wright attended the end of year echoes banquet and was working on a return trip.
As far as other corners go, Notre Dame football is in a good position with Deuce Harmon, whom I almost included instead of Harvey or McCutcheon, Daylan Carnell has been an in-state target of the staffs for a ling time, and Ryan Barnes and Kalen King are two not yet offered prospects the staff seems to be keeping close eyes on.
