Father Cavanaugh

Without Father Cavanaugh, Rudy likely doesn’t even attend college. He got Rudy that first semester at Holy Cross, after first mistaking him for someone who wanted to become a priest.

They never actually say in the movie whether or not the character was the same Father Cavanaugh who was the former president of the university, but we can put 2 and 2 together.

The lovable priest served as one of Rudy’s most important mentors, offering him council on life, religion, and college admissions. The character served as a shining example of not only what a priest should be, but the kind of people we should all be as well. Father Cavanugh had bigger, better things to do every day of his life, but he always made time to help one dreamer.
