After being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, we predict what former Notre Dame wide receiver Chase Claypool’s fantasy football impact.

After being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, former Notre Dame wide receiver, Chase Claypool, finds himself in an enviable position heading into the 2020 season and should be poised to make a major splash in fantasy football leagues as a rookie.

While oftentimes it takes a couple of years for wide receivers to become acclimated with the transition from the collegiate level to professional football, Claypool is an extremely polished player who should be able to contribute to fantasy football managers day one.

Claypool has soft hands and is an excellent route runner, which couples well with his 6’4″ and 238-pound frame and 4.39 second 40-yard dash time. As a result, it will not be a surprise to most Notre Dame football fans if Claypool becomes a prolific red-zone option in the NFL.

Claypool will benefit from lining up opposite of emerging superstar wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Smith-Schuster will likely draw a number of double team situations from opposing defenses, which should open up the field for Claypool to do damage.

In addition to benefiting from playing opposite of a talented wideout in Smith-Schuster, Claypool should also benefit from having a healthy Ben Roethlisberger returning under center and throwing passes for the Pittsburgh Steelers next season.

With those factors in mind, don’t be surprised when Chase Claypool provides an instant fantasy football impact. The hype train surrounding Claypool is likely to be far less than the ones surrounding other rookie wide receivers such as CeeDee Lamb in Dallas, Jerry Jeudy in Denver, or Henry Ruggs III in Las Vegas, but his impact could be far more significant than theirs.
