Another real possibility to host a marquee Notre Dame-Kentucky matchup would be the home of the Indiana Pacers, Banker’s Life Fieldhouse.

First of all, this would be a good fit because Indiana and basketball are synonymous with teach other. Basketball is religion in Indiana, so what better way to pay homage than to bring a college basketball blue blood and another national brand together in Central Indiana?

Banker’s Life Fieldhouse is a beautiful facility and offers much of the same type of atmosphere as Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Geographically, it maybe is even better than having these two schools meet in Cleveland. Kentucky’s campus is about 189 miles (just about 3 hours of driving time) away from downtown Indianapolis, while Notre Dame’s campus is about 150 miles to the north, which calculates to about 2 and a half hours of drive time.

In short, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better halfway point for the Irish and Wildcats.

The only drawback here is that Notre Dame has historically played in the Hardwood Classic in Indianapolis, which pits them against other schools from the state. Taking that into consideration, maybe this wouldn’t be the most exciting venue, especially given Notre Dame’s familiarity with it.

Still, you can’t really go wrong playing as much basketball as possible in the Hoosier state.
