Playing at Madison Square Garden would certainly bring back vibes of the former Big East Tournament for Irish fans. For that reason, this would one be a ton of fun for both teams’ fans, but maybe especially Notre Dame’s. Oh, the nostalgia.

Similar to the idea of playing in the Hoosier state, perhaps the next best idea for Notre Dame-Kentucky is to play it in the Mecca of basketball itself, Madison Square Garden.

Neither program is particularly unfamiliar with The Garden, as both have played in tournaments and other neutral site games there plenty of times.

Geographically, MSG is more of a hike for both teams, but certainly it would be worth it for both programs to get the chance to play at this iconic venue. In terms of mileage, it’s almost scary how similar the commute would be for each respective school. MSG is just over 700 miles for each school.

You just can’t beat basketball in the Big Apple.

Who knows if any of these venues will find themselves on the short list to host this matchup. Frankly, it doesn’t matter where this game is played. It’s just good that it’s happening.
