Slovis seemingly came out of nowhere last season to have an outstanding year. At USC, a school known for consistently recruiting blue-chip quarterbacks, he was able to work his way up to second on the depth chart as a true freshman that was a three-star recruit.

Like Davis Mills at Stanford, injuries at the quarterback position presented an opportunity for Slovis. The Trojans’ starting quarterback, JT Daniels, suffered a knee injury in the first game of the 2019 season.

Slovis came into that game and threw an interception. It was not the most ideal start to his college career, but I think it’s safe to say he made up for it with his play in the rest of their games that season.

In what amounted to ten full games played, Slovis threw for 3,502 yards, 30 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He averaged 8.9 yards per pass attempt and completed 71.9 percent of his passes. His strong play led to JT Daniels’ decision to enter the transfer portal – solidifying Slovis as the team’s starter for the 2020 season.

Irish fans were introduced to Kedon Slovis last October when the true freshmen led the Trojans in a primetime matchup in South Bend. While USC’s running game was the main focus that night, Slovis had a very solid game. He threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns on 24/35 passing.
