No. 4 – Tyler Vaughns – Senior – Southern California

Death. Taxes. And extremely talented Trojan Wide Receivers. These three things are guarantees in life. The later happens annually even when Southern Cal does field great teams.

This year is no different. Tyler Vaughns is elder of a dynamic receiver duo. The redshirt Senior from Pasadena, California caught 74 passes for 912 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2019. In 2018, Vaughns tallied 674 yards on 58 receptions with another 6 touchdowns. During his redshirt Freshman season, he jumped onto the scene with 57 receptions and 809 yards.

In his three games against the Irish, Vaughns performed fairly well. In South Bend, with Sam Darnold at the helm, he snared 6 passes for 65 yards. In his Sophomore finale, he tallied 120 yards on 12 receptions with a touchdown. Last year, with Notre Dame focusing on Michael Pittman Jr., he caught 4 balls for 47 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately for Vaughns, in his three years in Los Angeles, he has failed to beat the Irish.

With Michael Pittman Jr. departing for the NFL, Vaughns will receive more targets from Sophomore Quarterback Kedon Slovis. In Graham Harrell’s Air Raid offense, Slovis will throw the ball constantly – giving Vaughns and his running mate Amon-Ra St. Brown ample opportunities to put up gaudy stats. Last year, USC ranked in the Top 10 in passing attempts.

If the season begins on time and as scheduled, Alabama will immediately test the strength of the Trojans high powered offensive attack. Notre Dame plays USC in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on November 28th.
