As recognized of a program as there is, Notre Dame football has had the opportunity to dominate a few programs over the years.

When you are as historically great a program as Notre Dame is, there’s bound to be several teams who you have dominated. That’s the reality of being a 900 win program, who has 11 National Championships and 102 Consensus All-Americans. You need to leave a trail of beaten down teams in your wake.

There are tons of teams that Notre Dame has seen immense success against over the course of their history. A lot of these teams the Irish only played a handful of times, or else in memorable moments. Take Wake Forest, who Notre Dame is 5-0 against, with all their meetings in the past decade. There’s also teams like Texas, who Notre Dame has a very memorable win against  in the 1971 Cotton Bowl.

That isn’t to say long standing rivalries aren’t important to the Notre Dame football tradition. They obviously are. The Irish have even seen tons of success in those rivalry games. Take Purdue, who the Irish have beaten 56 times or USC who the Irish have beaten 49 times. There’s no denying that Notre Dame has had the upper hand on teams like this. Still, there’s been enough parity where you won’t see either of those teams on this list.

Furthermore, there are several teams who the Irish dominated, but are now lower than the FBS level. They won’t play a factor on this list. Yes, Notre Dame is 8-0 against Drake. They also haven’t played since 1937, and Drake is now a FCS program. The same can be said for their 10-1 record over Wabash, who now finds themselves in Division III.

So, because it’s more fun to remember the wins than the losses, it’s worth taking a look at the teams who Notre Dame has been most dominant against. For our purposes, we’ll define “most dominant” as the teams Notre Dame has the highest winning percentage against, in over ten meetings. After all, there’s too many teams who Notre Dame has only played once or twice, and never lost to, to recount them all here.

So, without further ado, these are the 5 teams who Notre Dame has dominated above all others.
