Despite not having the best performance, Notre Dame football commit Tyler Buchner was still in the top 11 at the end of the week.

Prior to the Pro Day workout on Day two of the Elite 11 camp, Notre Dame football commit, Tyler Buchner was listed as the number two quarterback — listed behind only Caleb Williams, who eventually went on to win the Elite 11 MVP. Prior to the last days workout Buchner’s ranking fell to eight, however he was still in the “Elite 11” after the final day of camp despite even struggling then.

One thing that helped Buchner quite a bit was his Junior season film — this is due to the rankings being based 50% on high school film and 50% on performance at the camp. This was very much in Tyler’s favor as you will struggle to find a player with better film than him.

The other guys who were listed in the “Elite 11” were Caleb Williams (MVP), Kyron Drones (Baylor Commit), Tyler Macon (Missouri Commit), Drake Maye (UNC Commit), JJ McCarthy (Michigan Commit), Kyle McCord (OSU Commit), Miller Moss (USC Commit), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU Commit), Kaidon Salter (Tennessee Commit), Ty Thompson (Oregon Commit), and Brock Vandagriff (Georgia Commit). This list can be found via the Elite 11 twitter account, by clicking here.

As I mentioned previously, Buchner did struggle at the event, but that doesn’t matter as long as he goes out and has another dominant season, as he transferred to Helix High School from the Bishop’s School where he will now be facing much tougher competition. Based on his junior season campaign, he should have little to no issue against stronger competition.

One last thing to note was that Buchner’s throwing motion did not look like it normally does, which could be part of the reason why he struggled, but also could be a reason to give Irish fans something to worry about. This could be seen via the Elite 11 Instagram account when they livestreamed different parts of the event, so that fans were able to watch. With that being said I think Tyler will be just fine and fans should not be worried at this point in time.
