The Notre Dame football team cannot afford for these top five players to not turn in stellar 2020 performances.

Today, the top five most impactful Notre Dame football players are unveiled. (If you need a quick refresher on the previous lists, here are No. 25-21, No. 20-16, No. 15-11, and No. 10-6). Although there is some disagreement on the precise order of No. 4 through No. 25, a general consensus was found between the Slap the Sign writers on the top three most impact Notre Dame football players for the 2020 season.

Obviously, these men in the top five must live up to their individual expectations if the Irish hope to have a memorable season. If Notre Dame hopes to best Clemson, win the ACC championship and land in the College Football Playoff, these players cannot play well. They must play great.

This means different things for each of these five student-athletes but they can be summarized into two groups. Three of these players are 1st Round NFL caliber prospects who are capable of taking over the game. Two are borderline NFL prospects who are extremely accomplished college players. All five need to maximize their potential if Notre Dame hopes to wins championships this season.

Two of the five members of our list are captains on this year’s squad. This is no coincidence. Players who make an impact on the field are generally those who influence others off of it.

Without further ado, here are the top five most impact Notre Dame football players for the upcoming season.
