Clemson Tigers at Notre Dame Fighting Irish: 3 bold predictions

Kyren Williams outplays Travis Etienne

When it comes to the 2021 NFL Draft, the only running back that is currently being projected to go in the first round is Clemson star Travis Etienne. This kid is built for the pro game, as he is not only a talented runner, but he can make plays happen out of the backfield as well.

In his first full season as the starting running back at Notre Dame, Kyren Williams is putting up similar numbers to Etienne on the ground, and only ranks one spot behind him in terms of rushing yards. He is a dynamic runner in his own right, and if the Fighting Irish want to win this one, he has to be the focal point of the offense.

Williams has eclipsed 20 carries only once this season, but he will likely have to inch closer to the 25-carry barrier if the Fighting Irish are to win this one. They have to control the clock and pound the ball with Williams, and if can get going behind his veteran offensive line, it will keep Etienne on the sidelines, and lead to Williams being the top back in this one.
