Clemson Tigers at Notre Dame Fighting Irish: 3 Biggest Surprises

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won a primetime game against the top-ranked team in the country

As most Notre Dame fans would tell you, the Irish do not win these games. At least not in recent history. Prior to Saturday night, Notre Dame had lost 19 of their last 20 games against opponents ranked in the top five.

The marquee victory against an elite opponent had largely eluded Notre Dame for the last two decades.

Next. Was Notre Dame’s win against Clemson the best of the Brian Kelly era?. dark

This was a legacy-building win for Brian Kelly. People love to discount the two undefeated seasons Notre Dame has had during his tenure because of how they ended. A win like this should now solidify Kelly in the top five of active college football coaches.
