Notre Dame to take on a familiar face in Boston College QB Phil Jurkovec

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish take their No. 2 ranking on the road against Boston College Saturday, and face a familiar man under center.
Coming off a monster win against No.1 Clemson on Saturday night, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take their show on the road this weekend, heading up to New England to take on the Boston College Eagles. For the Fighting Irish, they will look to avoid the fate they suffered back in 1993, when Boston College upset them, ending their chance at a national championship.
When the Irish take the field against Boston College, they will be facing a familiar foe, as the Eagles starting quarterback is former Notre Dame signal-caller, Phil Jurkovec. Jurkovec left the program after the 2019 college football season, earned the starting job for BC, and has been playing at a high level in 2020.
Jurkovec outstanding so far for BC
The former Irish quarterback got off to a fast start for Boston College, racking up 300 yards and two touchdowns on the road against Duke in the season opener. There has been some bumps along the way, including blowing a big lead against Clemson two weeks ago, but for the most part, Jurkovec has been as good as advertised.
A former High School All-American, Jurkovec never got going in South Bend, as he could not win the job from Ian Book. On Saturday, he will have a chance to prove the Notre Dame program wrong, though Book is coming off a historic win against Clemson last weekend, and is playing at a very high level.
While Notre Dame should come away with the victory in this one, Jurkovec is definitely a dynamic quarterback who has a bunch of weapons on that side of the ball, and he will be playing with a chip on his shoulder Saturday.
The Irish need to get in Jurkovec’s face on Saturday, as he has not thrown an interception in weeks, and has posted a 15-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio this season. Boston College comes into this game sitting at 5-3, and have looked very good the past three weeks, so hopefully the Irish are not looking past their former teammate and Boston College.
