Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Boston College Eagles: 3 players to watch

Max Richardson

Senior Linebacker Max Richardson leads the Eagles in several defensive categories including tackles and tackles for loss. On the season, Richardson has collected 79 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Richardson has produced at a high rate for three straight years. Last year in a loss to Notre Dame, he tallied 9 tackles. When you add to the fact that the Eagles have another solid linebacker in Isaiah McDuffie, they have the talent on that side of the ball to get stops, but can they do so against an elite offense like Notre Dam has.

Zay Flowers

Jurkovec’s top target is Sophomore wide receiver Zay Flowers. Flowers, a 3-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale, played a significant role his freshman season – catching 22 receptions for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns.

This season, Flowers has snagged 38 passes for 600 yards with 6 touchdowns. Close behind is Tight End Hunter Long who has 501 yards on 43 receptions. Isolating Long and Flowers like Clemson’s Amari Rodgers and Travis Etienne will be key to Notre Dame’s game plan on defense. Look for Notre Dame to double team Zay Flowers and use Kyle Hamilton and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to neutralize Long.
