Notre Dame Football at Boston College Eagles: Game preview and prediction

This is a trap game at its finest. After one of the biggest wins in Notre Dame history, the Irish now have to go on the road to face Boston College. I do think the Eagles will have Notre Dame’s full attention. Especially with quarterback Phil Jurkovec leading the Eagles’ offense. The Irish defense needs to keep Jurkovec in the pocket and make him uncomfortable.
On the offensive side of the ball, Ian Book needs to take care of the ball and continue to gain confidence with his receivers. I expect the Notre Dame offense to wear down the Boston College defense throughout the course of the game, and the Irish should pull away late.

Boston College is better than they were last season, and the Irish cannot afford to get caught sleeping. This game should be close for about a half. Then, Notre Dame’s talent advantage should propel them to victory.

Notre Dame will likely have somewhat of a “letdown” on Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill. However, Boston College is too one dimensional on offense to beat the Irish. History is on the Eagles’ side, but their streak of major upsets against the Irish ends this week as Notre Dame slugs its way to victory.

The parallels to the 1993 season are certainly concerning. However, Notre Dame is a good deal better than Boston College this season. Much like they did in their game against Clemson two weeks ago, I expect the Eagles to start hot on Saturday.
Much like Clemson did in the second half of that same game, I expect the Irish to pull away late.
