Notre Dame Football at Boston College Eagles: 3 Biggest Surprises

Notre Dame did not punt a single time in this game.

Watching this game at home, I did not even realize this until the announcers mentioned it on the broadcast in the fourth quarter. The Irish did not attempt a single punt in this game. It is entirely possible that the Notre Dame offense wanted to give Jay Bramblett’s leg the day off after his touchdown-saving tackle against Clemson last weekend.

If you heard that the Irish did not punt in this game, you would probably guess that they would have scored a bit more than 45 points.

The rest of the equation is that Notre Dame committed three turnovers, attempted two field goals, and had two fourth-down conversions. Oh, and the Boston College defense is kind of bad.

The way that the Irish offense has been playing the last two weeks, it is not completely out of the realm of possibility that this happens again this season. If Bramblett gets too bored, maybe special teams coordinator Brian Polian will call some more fake field goal plays for him.
