Notre Dame football: Offensive grades vs. Boston College

Running Backs

Fumbles and letting the quarterback lead the team in rushing are the headline for the running backs against Boston College. The subheading is that C’Bo Flemister left the game with an injury and Kyren Williams had the fewest touches among the running backs-largely due to getting banged up on the play where he fumbled.

Even in a night that amounted to Notre Dame being just fine for themselves at running back, they were still much better than most teams. The running game was still a tone setter, with which Notre Dame was able to control the pace of the game. Notre Dame’s three headed running back attack only managed 164 yards on 36 carries for two touchdowns.

Both of those touchdowns came courtesy of Flemister, whose 5.3 yards per carry was best among the running backs. Chris Tyree led the team’s running backs in carries (17) and yards (74). Williams, after being the best player on the field against Clemson had a reduced role, but that may be related to a sore shoulder.
