The Notre Dame football team continues to stockpile talent for 2021 and beyond, this time adding kicker Joshua Bryan from California.

On Tuesday evening, the Notre Dame football program landed its 21st commitment from 2021 in kicker Joshua Bryan out of California. Bryan has been committed to Colorado since August, but has stayed in contact with the Irish staff ever since they reached out and showed they definitely were interested in adding a kicker for the class.

It was pretty much a waiting game at the time though for Bryan, as all he was waiting for was the offer and green light from the Irish staff on if they were absolutely certain they wanted a specialist. Obviously, that day came for the staff, and he’s now apart of the 2021 class.

Bryan holds a handful of offers from the likes of Colorado, Navy, Yale, Air Force and Army.

What will Josh Bryan bring to South Bend?

The 6’0 190 pound kicker is going to bring a lot of awards to South Bend that for sure. Bryan has over 25 major honors over the past couple years, and we definitely putting him in the category as one of the best kickers in the nation. His latest is being selected for the 2021 Polynesian Bowl as an All-American.

At the end of the day, can he kick? Well obviously. He has a very impressive leg and can already hit from over 55+ yards easily. He also has the ability to punt if needed in South Bend and he seems mentally ready for the Division 1 football.

He’s a big time competitor and loves the pressure the kicker has.

Notre Dame has had the luxury of some really great kickers over the past several years. Think Brindza, Yoon, Doerer, and now Bryan. That’s an excellent group of kickers. As for Doerer, he has said that he plans to come back next year, which would be huge, but that also isn’t a definite.

We will see how the rest of the season unfolds but if he does come back that will get Josh Bryan some time to adapt to the academic side of Notre Dame and also get stronger as a College kicker. If Doerer decided to head to the NFL, Bryan should have no problem taking over as a young kicker either. It’s a great position the staff is in and special teams coach Brian Polian is definitely one happy camper tonight.
