Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: Prentiss Hubb to be ‘the guy’ in 2020-21
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Men’s Basketball program has a budding star in Prentiss Hubb, who will definitely be the man in South Bend this season.
Despite a knee injury robbing him of his senior season in high school, guard Prentiss Hubb was still rated as a top-100 player in the country. Since arriving in South Bend, Hubb has become a key piece of the puzzle for the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball program, and he is ready to continue his growth this season.
Thrust into the starting lineup as a freshman, Hubb proved he belonged on the big stage, averaging over eight points per game, and scoring in double-figures 12 times. The freshman had his issues, including his field goal percentages from inside and outside the three-point line, areas he improved in this past season.
As a sophomore, Hubb bumped up his points per game to over 12, and went over 20 points eight times, including posting 22 in the season opener against UNC. His career-high of 25 came at Georgia Tech, a game that saw Hubb knock down five three pointers, leading his team to a 78-74 victory on the road against the Yellow Jackets.
If the Irish are going to anything of significance this season, it will be because Hubb took the next step forward.
