Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: Prentiss Hubb to be ‘the guy’ in 2020-21
Hubb is a budding star for the Irish
Looking at his progression over the past two seasons, it is clear that the Irish are only going to go as far as Hubb will take them in 2020-21. Head coach Mike Brey is a guy who likes to run his offense through dominant, scoring point guards, and Hubb has the talent to be a 15-20 point per game player.
Luckily for Hubb and Brey, the team will get Cormac Ryan on the court this season, this after Ryan sat out last year after transferring from Stanford. His presence is going to take a lot of pressure off of Hubb as he looks to navigate a junior season without the likes of John Mooney and T.J. Gibbs to rely on.
Hubb was considered one of the best players in the country before his knee injury in high school, being named an Under Armor All-American three times. He is that kind of talented, and will be expected to take a more dominant role on this team in 2020-21.
The is a team that does not have too high of expectations coming in, and the early season schedule is brutal, so relying on veterans like Hubb will be key. Having a strong player next to him in Ryan in the backcourt is going to help, but he has to improve his shooting, and be better at taking care of the ball if he is truly going to be ‘the guy’ in South Bend this season.
