Notre Dame Football at North Carolina Tar Heels: 3 things to watch

North Carolina’s high-powered offense

The Tar Heels come into this matchup with the Irish with a ton of confidence on the offensive side of the ball, and rightfully so. In their last two games, wins against Duke and Wake Forest, North Carolina has scored 115 total points, proving they can find the end zone through the air, and on the ground.

This is an offense with a ton of big play ability, and they lead the FBS in plays of ten or more yards. The combination of Javonte Williams and Michael Carter at running back is arguably the best tandem in the country, as they are both averaging over seven yards per carry and have combined for 24 touchdowns between them.

Quarterback Sam Howell has followed up an outstanding freshman campaign, one that saw him thrown for 38 touchdowns, with another stellar season. The sophomore has 23 touchdowns against six interceptions, and is completing nearly 68 percent of his passes, and he has a dynamic target in the passing game in Dvami Brown.

This team can put up points in bunches, but Notre Dame is the best defense they will have faced this season. On Friday, something has got to give.
