The Notre Dame football team is likely headed to the College Football Playoff, and here are the four best matchups for them in the Semifinal.

With Notre Dame football likely ranked in the top four of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee’s initial rankings, it’s time to get ahead of ourselves and look at which teams Notre Dame would match up best against. This, of course, is limited to teams with a realistic shot of making the Playoff.

So, no Michigan on this list.

In all the madness provided by 2020, it has also provided the most complete Notre Dame team in over 25 years. The Irish have a legitimate chance to do damage against any team they may see in the Playoff. After getting the big game monkey off their back, by bearing top ranked Clemson, it’s now time for Notre Dame to get the postseason monkey off their back.

After all, no current Notre Dame player was alive the last time the Irish won a major bowl game.

Clemson is purposefully going to be left off this list. First, how Notre Dame matches up against Clemson was beaten to death the week of the game. Second, they’ll be meeting in the ACC Championship Game (unless one of the two implodes), and that game will also be given more than enough analysis.

Besides, if Notre Dame wins that game, then Clemson won’t make the College Football Playoff. If the Irish lose, they’ll need help to make it.

So, here are four potential College Football Playoff semifinal opponents that Notre Dame should want to play.
