Notre Dame Football at North Carolina Tar Heels: 3 bold predictions
Notre Dame defense holds Javonte Williams under 100 yards rushing
While the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have an explosive running back in Kyren Williams, who lit up a very tough Clemson defense a few weeks ago, the Tar Heels counter with a talented Williams of their own. Javonte Williams is widely regarded as one of the best running backs in the country, and teams have struggled mightily to stop him, and teammate Michael Carter all season long.
Williams is a tough task for any defense, but this Irish squad could be up to the task, especially after handling Clemson’s Travis Etienne a few weeks back. Etienne went into that game as the consensus pick of being the only running back slated for the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but the Irish made him look downright pedestrian.
Of course, this would be a monster accomplishment for the Irish defense, and if Williams is not the factor he usually is, Notre Dame would cruise to a victory. The Tar Heels offense runs through their two-headed monster at running back, and with two weeks to prepare, the Notre Dame defense is going to be ready.
