The bye week came at the right time for Notre Dame, as the Irish got some much-needed rest, which they definitely needed before their game against the Tar Heels. This game could very well end up being a back-and-forth shootout.
The offensive line chemistry for Notre Dame worries me a bit considering two of their starters will miss the game. At the end of the day, I think the outcome will be determined by the Irish defense. They need to hold the North Carolina offense to field goal attempts, and hopefully force a turnover or two.
The Irish offense needs to do the opposite: score touchdowns in the red zone and limit turnovers. I give the edge to Notre Dame late in this game to seal a victory.

Notre Dame needs to keep the potent North Carolina offense off the field with a consistent and powerful running attack. The Irish should be able to eclipse 200 yards rushing based on the Tar Heels’ performance against similar rushing attacks.
Controlling the ball on offense should be enough to swing the balance in favor of the Irish. Notre Dame clears their last major hurdle before the ACC Championship Game.

I am curious to see how the Notre Dame offensive line plays in this game without two of their starters. If the Irish have trouble running the ball and protecting Ian Book, it could be a long day. This has all the makings of a high-scoring affair. The North Carolina offense is one of the best in the country.
Holding them to less than 30 points is no easy feat. On the other side of the ball, the Tar Heels’ defense has been a bit pedestrian. That coupled with the way the Notre Dame offense has been playing recently, I think the Irish will score 40 points for the third time in as many games. We will be treated to some ACC football that looks like Big 12 football this Friday.
