Notre Dame football: New faces having a huge impact in 2020

Chris Tyree, Running Back

The most exciting part of the running back situation is knowing that two deadly playmakers can get a handful of touches each game. While Chris Tyree has obviously taken a back seat to Williams this season, the true freshman has still shown flashes of the speed that makes him so special and has been a perfect No. 2 back for this offense.

So far, Tyree has recorded 350 rush yards, good enough for third-most on the team, and has averaged 5.7 yards/carry to go along with two touchdowns.

One of the biggest areas we’ve seen Tyree make an impact has been special teams, tallying 338 kick return yards on 16 attempts, which comes out to 21 yards per return.

It’s encouraging that Tyree has been getting touches throughout the season and it’s evident that his vision and patience are improving. He’s been close to some homerun-type plays that will begin to hit sooner rather than later.
