Notre Dame Football vs Syracuse Orange: Picks and Predictions

Picks and Predictions

Carlee North

Syracuse is just not a good team and Notre Dame should have no issue pulling away from them in this game. With the Wake Forest game getting canceled, I think the Irish will come out on fire against Syracuse, knowing this is their final regular-season game.

I would love the see the offensive line gain some more confidence shuffling some guys around. I also think Notre Dame’s defense can force multiple turnovers. Most importantly, I hope the team can stay healthy and jump on Syracuse early enough to get backups plenty of action.

Syracuse has had an abysmal season. Their best defensive player and top two running backs have all opted out, though they have had some young players step up, including linebacker Stefon Thompson, and cornerback Garrett Williams.

Syracuse has massive issues on the offensive line and has not yet settled on a starting quarterback following Tommy DeVito’s injury. The Irish roll in this one, sending the seniors home with a victory in their final home game.

I am hoping that Notre Dame will be able to pull their starters at some point in the third quarter. The Syracuse offense has struggled to put points on the board this season, and I don’t think that will change this week when they face Clark Lea‘s defense.

Similar to what we saw in Notre Dame’s game against Pittsburgh earlier this year, I think a big second quarter from the Irish essentially puts this game away. From there, the Irish have two weeks to prepare for the ACC title game.
