Syracuse Orange at Notre Dame Football: 3 players to watch
Quarterback and Wide Receiver
Rex Culpepper
When Notre Dame last faced Syracuse, Tommy DeVito subbed in for an injured Eric Dungy, and he appeared to be the heir apparent for the Orange at quarterback. However, DeVito has a season-ending injury early on, forcing Dino Babers to look elsewhere for his starting quarterback.
Senior quarterback Rex Culpepper now takes the helm, but it is possible that JaCobian Morgan also plays against the Fighting Irish. Culpepper made a bonehead play last week against North Carolina State, spiking the ball on fourth down late when the team needed a touchdown.
No matter who is under center, it seems like Babers does not have a guy who can properly run his system.
Taj Harris
The Junior receiver from Beverly, New Jersey currently leads the Syracuse Orange in receiving yards and touchdowns. Thus far, Harris has collected 50 receptions for 664 yards with five touchdowns. He is coming off from his best game of the season against North Carolina State, a game that saw him catch 13 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.
He is Syracuse’s most consistent offensive weapon.
