Syracuse Orange at Notre Dame Football: 3 things we learned

Ian Book is a legend

Ian Book went into the Syracuse game in the footsteps of immortality, as a win would make him the all-time winningest quarterback in the history of the Notre Dame football program. When you think back to all the legendary quarterbacks this program has produced, it makes Book’s accomplishments since taking over that much more impressive.

On Saturday, he not only notched his 30th win, the most ever for an Irish quarterback, but he did it the way Ian Book does it. He shook off some early-game issues to absolutely put this team on his back, finishing up with five touchdowns, to go along with 285 passing yards and over 50 yards on the ground.

This kid is a winner, and going into a rematch with Clemson for the ACC title, he is playing the best football we have seen from him at Notre Dame. Sure, he racked up wins in previous seasons, but the 2020 campaign has been different, as he is playing with the kind of drive and purpose that could land the Irish a national title.
