Syracuse Orange at Notre Dame Football: 3 things we learned

Javon McKinley can be a game-changer

Since the Irish’s victory on the road against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets, Javon McKinley has been steadily turning into an elite option in the passing game. McKinley had five catches for 93 yards against Georgia Tech, his best effort since he went over 100 yards against Florida State, and he has been padding the stats ever since.

In a two-game stretch against Tech and Clemson, McKinley had nearly 200 yards combined, showing his ability to beat teams deep. However, it has been his play recently that has really turned heads, as he racked up 246 yards in the wins against North Carolina and Syracuse, including a three-touchdown effort on Saturday.

Those three touchdowns were his first of the 2020 season, and going into the ACC title game, the Irish are going to need him to continue his production. He had a solid game against them the last time around, and between he and Ben Skowronek, along with tight end Michael Mayer, there is enough talent in this passing attack to free up lanes for stud running back Kyren Williams.
