Heading into the 2020 college football season, a lot of talk surrounding who the best running back in the conference was revolved around Clemson’s Travis Etienne and Javonte Williams from North Carolina. However, redshirt freshman Kyren Williams outplayed both of them this season in their matchups and has become the most complete back in the conference.

After his 110-yard effort against the Orange, Williams not only eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season on the ground, but he was also named the ACC Running Back of the Week. Williams has dominated the college football landscape in his first season as the feature back for the Irish, and the sky is really the limit for him.

Graduate Javon McKinley has exploded in recent weeks, becoming an incredible downfield threat for Ian Book, and garnering plenty of attention in the passing game. McKinley was named the ACC Wide Receiver of the Week after hauling in seven passes for 111 yards against Syracuse.

Also, McKinley found the end zone three times, scoring for the first three times this season, and heading into the ACC title game, he is a guy the Tigers need to be game-planning against.

On the defensive side of the ball, Clarence Lewis, a true freshman, was named the conference’s Defensive Back of the Week. Lewis was all over the field on Saturday, racking up 12 tackles, the most by an Irish defender since 2018. Lewis also had a forced fumble in the game, and for a guy who has not had more than five tackles in any game this year, Saturday was a breakout party.
