Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: 3 Keys to victory over No. 22 Ohio State

Feed Nate Laszewski

Finally, we turn our attention to a big man of our own, as Nate Laszewski has gotten off to a fast start for the Irish this season. Averaging 34 minutes per game, Laszewski has seen his statistics significantly improve from a year ago and is shooting nearly 60 percent from the field after coming nowhere close to that his first two seasons in South Bend.

Inside the Joyce Center on Tuesday, he is going to need to play big against a tough Ohio State team, and we have seen through the first two games of the season that he has the potential to be a double-double guy this season. His ten rebounds per game are best on the team, and he is getting it down on offense down low, and from beyond the arc.

After 12 points in the opening loss to Michigan State, Laszewski went 3-4 from downtown, posted 16 points, and used his 6-foot-10 frame to pull down ten rebounds.

Hubb and Ryan are going to facilitate the offense, but if the Irish want to win this one, they have to utilize their big men perfectly against this Ohio State defense. Laszewski has proven this year that he can be a double-digit scorer in his third season with the Irish, and he must play a key role in the offense on Tuesday.
