The Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team hung tough in their loss to Ohio State, and here are three things we learned on Tuesday night.

The Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team played against their second ranked opponent of the season on Tuesday night, as they welcomed the No. 22 Ohio State Buckeyes to the Joyce Center. In a game that went down to the wire, the Irish hung tough against the Buckeyes, but in the end, they just did not have enough depth to overcome the top-25 team.

Here are three things we learned during the tough loss on Tuesday night.

The Irish have a lot of heart

This is the second game against a ranked opponent that saw the Irish battle to the final seconds, only this time it was a lot closer throughout the entire contest. Against the Michigan State Spartans, they went down by nearly 30 points in the second half, only to close the gap, and lose by ten points to a deep team led by head coach Tom Izzo.

On Tuesday, the Irish actually got out to an early lead over the Buckeyes, leading by as many as nine early in the second half, thanks to some solid play big men Juwan Durham and Nate Laszewski. Ohio State took their first lead since a little over 14 minutes left in the first half with 8:45 in the second and was actually within one with under thirty seconds left, only to see Ohio State pull away late.

Still, this is a team that has consistently shown heart this season, a great sign for a squad looking to turn some heads.
