Notre Dame football lands elite 2022 offensive lineman Ty Chan

What will Chan bring to South Bend?

The 6’6 275-pound tackle is a big guy. The first thing I go to when I think of Chan is his athletic ability for his size. He’s extremely nimble and quick on his feet and is very smooth on the move.

He also has excellent hand placement and uses his hands effectively, which helps him maintain his blocks. The way he’s able to move his hips and have control of his upper body is outstanding for his size as well. In my eyes, he’s someone you look for when searching for a sure-fire tackle.

One thing that doesn’t get talked about as much as it should though is his football IQ. It makes sense because his physical presence is the first thing you notice, but his ability to soak in information and learn is going to be huge for him early on in his career at Notre Dame.

He’s once again a lineman in line to be another great for the Irish and it’s almost expected at this point. With Chan committing to the Irish, the 2022 class now has four commitments, three on offense and one on defense. Chan will be joining Joey Tanona in the offensive lineman room for the class.

These two are a very solid duo to begin the 2022 class and the lineman class is nowhere done yet, which is hard to believe with the talent they already possess as high school Juniors. Offensive line coach Jeff Quinn has been a dominant recruiter and it’s also showing on the field for the Irish which is an absolute gem to watch.
