Notre Dame football: 2020 NFL rookies struggling outside of Chase Claypool
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football program produced six NFL Draft picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, and outside of WR Chase Claypool, they all have struggled as rookies.
While the 2020 Notre Dame football team is taking college football by storm, going through the regular season undefeated and locking up a spot in the ACC title game, their alumni are not doing so well. In fact, of the six 2020 NFL Draft picks the program produced last April, really only Pittsburgh wide receiver Chase Claypool has done anything to speak of.
Whether it has been adjusting to the pro game or battling through injuries, the rookies from Notre Dame have yet to make a major impact outside of Claypool. Some have appeared in a bunch of games, while others are still getting their feet wet, and that is not really an unusual thing for a rookie making the jump to the next level.
As the season has worn on, we have heard a lot about Claypool, who has been instrumental in leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to an 11-1 record as their WR1 this season. He has been a touchdown machine for Ben Roethlisberger and company and certainly has a bright future ahead of him.
Looking at the rest of the class, there is definitely some solid talent there, and once they get used to the pro game, there could be a few guys who turn out to be Pro Bowl players.
