Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: Irish have the talent to beat Kentucky
Notre Dame’s experience could be the difference Saturday
One of the keys for the Irish on Saturday will be the experience of their roster, most notably the juniors who have taken the lead this season. Guys like Prentiss Hubb, Nate Laszewski, Dane Goodwin, and Cormac Ryan all have averaged double figures in scoring this season, and all four will need a big day against a young Kentucky squad.
The last time out, Hubb put the team on his back against the No. 22 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, scoring a career-high 26 points in the loss. Notre Dame suffered some untimely foul trouble in the second half, specifically seeing Juwan Durham leave with nearly ten minutes left in the game, and just did not have the depth behind him to come away with the upset victory.
Against Kentucky, they have the experience and skill to not only hang in with John Calipari’s club but to beat them, even on the road inside Rupp Arena.
The Irish have a huge game on the horizon after the Kentucky battle, as they will take on the No. 10 ranked Duke Blue Devils. That game will kick off their ACC season, and there is nothing Brey and company would like more than to knock off Kentucky and Duke in consecutive games.
First, they must beat the Wildcats.
