Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Ranking the Class of 2021

3. Deion Colzie – Wide Receiver – Athens Academy (Athens, GA)

High: 4 – Low: 6

Colzie committed to the Fighting Irish in October 2019 before backing off that pledge to think about his decision more. After much thought, he recognized that Notre Dame was the right place for him and he rejoined the class in September. He ranks as the 98th best player in the 2021 class. Colzie possesses great size and athleticism that makes him a potential No. 1 wide receiver.

2. Rocco Spindler – Offensive Guard – Clarkston (Clarkston, MI)

High: 2 – Low: 3

Notre Dame battled Michigan until the end for Spindler’s signature, as the recruitment went back and forth throughout the summer before Spindler verbally pledged to the Irish in August. He ranks as the 60th best recruit in the country according to 247Sports. His nasty streak fits in perfectly with Notre Dame’s recent string of elite offensive lines. This was a huge addition for the Irish, as it will allow them to continue to dominate in the trenches for the foreseeable future.

1. Blake Fisher – Offensive Line – Avon (Avon, IN)

High: 1 – Low: 2

Fisher is not only the best player in Notre Dame’s class, he helped the coaching staff assemble this class by connecting with recruits. According to the 247Sports Composite, Fisher ranks as the 52nd best player in the country, as he received 34 scholarship offers including Alabama, LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State.

Most recruiting websites list Fisher as an offensive tackle, however, his best position for college, and the professional ranks, is at guard. Fisher will be an elite, All-American guard at the next level if he makes the shift from tackle. Based on Notre Dame’s recruiting, it seems that is probably what will happen.

The Irish signed Alt and Johnson at tackle, Fisher, and Spindler at Guard, and Coogan at Center for a complete class of offensive linemen. This assessment of Fisher is not a knock on his ability. On the contrary, it is a recognition of his skills and attributes that will make him an elite player at the position.
