Notre Dame Football: What will Estime bring to South Bend?

The 6’1 215-pound running back is going to bring some pop and power in the backfield. He’s an absolute ram of a running back that will make you pay inside the tackles. He already has the frame to be a college running back right now, and also is someone that has the ability to be an every-down back.

He possesses catching ability out of the backfield and has improved drastically with his breakaway speed. When you look at him, you probably only see his freakish physical stature, but he has the ability to make you look silly with the one-cut move he uses. Estime is someone, in my eyes that the Irish truly haven’t had in the backfield in a while, with the combination of his size and skills.

I could compare Tony Jones Jr., who I’d say is the closest recent comparison, but Estime is faster, more athletic and physically already put together before even stepping foot on campus. This is a great get for running back coach Lance Taylor this late in the process, and I can’t wait to watch Estime develop in the years to come.

With Audric Estime signing this week the Irish now have signed all 26 commits, with the one exception to follow, running back in Logan Diggs, who has said he wants to wait until February to sign.

The duo of Estime and Diggs would be really solid in the backfield, a thunder, and lightning type but at the end of the day, Diggs has to get past his hometown offer from LSU that he received last week. It’ll be tough, but if Diggs sticks to his Notre Dame commitment, and realizes the offensive line he’ll be running behind throughout his college career, I’d say that choice is rather easy. Stay tuned.
