After seeing their game against Syracuse canceled, the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team added a game against Bellarmine for Wednesday.

After splitting their first four games, and hanging tough against the likes of Michigan State and Ohio State, the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team has lost two straight. The first loss was a home defeat at the hands of the then-No. 21 Duke Blue Devils, a game that could have netted them their second straight victory against a blue blood.

The following game, the Irish got an incredible effort from Trey Wertz, as he scored 27 points in only his second game for Notre Dame this season. Wertz was a machine for the Irish against Purdue, but it was not enough, as the team lost by ten.

As we look ahead, they have some work to do before taking on ACC rival Virginia.

Irish to take on UVA on December 30

After seeing their game get canceled against Syracuse, the Irish knew they had to get a game in before taking on the Cavaliers at home on December 30. To make up for the game lost against the Orange, the Irish added a matchup against Bellarmine for Wednesday, a team that has seen numerous games canceled due to COVID as well this season.

Bellarmine is 1-2 this season and has played some ACC competition in 2020, as they lost by 22 to the Duke Blue Devils. While they have some talent on their roster, this is a game the Irish have to win, especially with No. 16-ranked Virginia on the horizon.

It has been an up and down season for Mike Brey and his squad, and they will be looking to turn things around against a lesser Bellarmine squad before a huge matchup in eight days. The Cavaliers are once again one of the best teams in the country, and it will be a good test for Brey and his experienced Irish team before we turn the page to 2021.
